The Food and Beverage Classification System (FBCS) is a practical tool that can be used to identify healthy food and drink options. The Heart Foundation has updated, simplified and made the system more user-friendly. With the new brand name fuelled4life the system aims to help schools to provide cost effective, nutritious options that give children and young people more variety and choice.
Fuelled4life is an easy way to implement the Food and Beverage Classification System and helps schools and ECE services to identify and offer healthy food choices to children.
The fuelled4life team have been out and about at conferences and expos and more schools have signed up to fuelled4life. Even if you already receive the Buyers’ Guide, signing up online will give you access to special promotions and resources.
At the recent NZ Schools Trustees’ Association Conference a ‘goodie bag’ of registered companies donated product was a great incentive for schools to sign up online at the conference.
Six new companies have been registered to fuelled4life since the Buyers’ Guides were published in March bringing the total to 27. There are now over 560 products to choose from. You can check them out on our website. You will also find yummy recipes and useful tips and you can sign up online too.
We would love to hear any feedback about how we can support you with nutrition in your school as we are always looking at ways to improve the effectiveness of fuelled4life. Email Sally Hughes with your queries or suggestions.
