5 ways to Love your Heart
With heart disease claiming the lives of around 2,500 women in New Zealand each year, it is important we understand how to keep ourselves well and healthy to be here longer with our families and loved ones.
Looking after your heart health is important and easy to achieve. Just follow these 5 simple steps on how to love your heart:

Know your numbers. Know your cholesterol ratio and blood pressure and find out how old your heart really is

Have a "heart WOF". Have a regular heart health check with your GP or practice nurse.

Quit smoking. If you smoke, quitting is the single most important thing you can do to reduce your risk of heart disease

Take steps to eat more heart healthy foods. Choosing the right foods is a great way of looking after your heart

Be active everyday. Include at least 30 minutes of moderate, physical activity on most or all days of the week.
