To be a healthy person it is important to ensure that what we put into our bodies is healthy. Eating healthy is all about balance, variety, moderation/control, regularity and daily practice!

Takui’s Seven Secret Tips to Healthy Eating

The following healthy eating tips are some of the things that I practice everyday to ensure that both my heart and I stay healthy.

  1. Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods – making sure that on a daily basis I eat foods from the four food groups; Breads and cereals, milk and milk products, fruit and vegetables, lean meat, seafood, eggs, nuts and beans.
  2. Eat moderate portions or control what you put into your mouth – knowing how much food (serving) from each food group I should eat on a daily basis helps me be mindful of how much I eat.

  3. Eat regular meals – I don’t skip meals, as I don’t want to overeat in my next meal.
  4. Snack the healthy way – I always take fruit or vegetable sticks to work or have nuts available to snack on only when needed. A handful of nuts a day is enough. This practice prevents me from snacking on unhealthy foods such as cake, biscuits, etc.

  5. Eat breakfast – I don’t skip breakfast as I need to start my day well, with lots of energy.
  6. Prefer home cooked food – though it’s time consuming I always cook my meals as I can control how I cook them as well as the amount of fats, salt and sugar going into them.

  7. Eat slowly – when I eat slowly not only do I enjoy my food, but I also feel satisfied or full with the right amount of food on my plate.
