  M e t h o d   
  1. Cook rice according to package directions, but substitute chicken broth for  water.  While cooking add shallots.  Hold warm.
  2. Soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 1 hour.
  3. To prepare steak marinade, combine Soy Sauce and MASTERFOODS Chinese Five-Spice Powder.  Place steak in marinade and refrigerate 1 to 4 hours.
  4. To prepare Asian beef skewers, alternately arrange 4 marinated beef cubes, 4 red capsicum pieces and 3 shallot pieces onto each skewer. Grill to desired doneness.
  5. For each serving, place 1 cup rice on serving plate.  Arrange 2 cooked Asian beef skewers on plate.  Serve each portion with a couple of tablespoons of MASTERFOODS Sweet & Sour Sauce in remekin.

Variations:

  • Make vegetable kebabs
    - by replacing the beef with Tofu and marinate as above 
    - or use a medley of colourful vegetables and cubes of fresh pineapple.
  • Try replacing the wooden skewers with long spears of rosemary threading
    the meat and vegetable alternatively onto the rosemary spears.
