Are YOU at risk of heart disease?

Risk Assessment

Are YOU at risk of heart disease?
There is no single cause of cardiovascular disease but the
way you live your life really does make a difference to your risk of developing it.
Certain aspects of the choices  YOU make about how to live  YOUR life are known as your risk factors.

The more risk factors you have, the more likely you are to develop heart disease.

The GOOD news is that you can control and change many of these risk factors.
Find out if you are at risk by taking just a few minutes to answer our simple risk quiz

What do I do next?

If you think you may be at risk go and have a cardiovascular risk assessment. This involves:

Stage 1 Assessment
See your doctor who can carry out a detailed risk assessment.
Your doctor can work whether you are at a very high, high, moderate or mild risk of developing cardiovascular disease in the next 5 years.

If you are at risk, your doctor or practice nurse will help you find ways of reducing the risk.
This may include advice about your lifestyle and you may be given medication.

Stage 3 Make a plan
You will given help to improve to your lifestyle to help your health and reduce your risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

Stage 4 Check-ups
Keep a diary of your progress. Your doctor will want to see you regularly to monitor your progress.
