FAQs

What is DigiVillage?
DigiVillage is the Heart Foundation's fun website that brings healthy living to life in a virtual village setting called Manawanui.

Featuring playgrounds, classrooms, a healthy tuck shop, whare and 'DigiTV', the website features the Heart Foundation's education programmes (Jump Rope for Heart, School Foods Programme and Healthy Heart Award) in a fun, virtual environment that allows schools and early childhood centres to access resources and share information and stories on how to be healthy and have fun!

How do we find it online?
Visit  www.digivillage.org.nz

What is the purpose of the site?
The Heart Foundation's DigiVillage inspires and encourages healthy eating and physical activity by children in a fun and interactive way.

Children can load videos of themselves onto the site on DigiTV (like You Tube) participating in fun, healthy activities to promote and encourage healthy living to others and participate online in a safe environment.

DigiVillage is a platform for schools and early childhood centres to share information and learning stories about how they have used the three Heart Foundation Programmes - Jump Rope for Heart, Healthy Heart Award and School Food.  It acts as a 'one-stop-online-shop' of resources for Heart Foundation education programmes so registered schools can access these easily.

Is it safe for kids?
Yes. All users must register, and parents/caregivers are advised when their child registers to access the site.  Children can load videos of themselves onto the site participating in fun, healthy activities.  All material is moderated by the Heart Foundation prior to going live on the site.

Who has partnered with the Heart Foundation on DigiVillage?
The Heart Foundation is grateful for the generous support of the Telecom Community Connection Programme for providing sponsorship funding for DigiVillage.
