What is Jump Rope For Heart?
The Heart Foundation's Jump Rope For Heart - Taura Peke mo te Manawa Ora - is an iconic Kiwi physical activity programme now into its 25th year of developing heart healthy children.
Jump Rope For Heart is a popular curriculum-linked physical activity programme offered to all primary and intermediate schools throughout New Zealand. In order for a school to run the programme, Jump Rope for Heart supplies each school with a Skip-a-thon challenge kit. This kit includes a selection of different sized ropes, curriculum linked resources as well as a sponsorship booklet for your child to work through.
Jump Rope For Heart makes physical activity fun, the programme enables your child to not only learn a new talent and get fit, but to develop life long skills such as balance, rhythm and hand eye co--ordination. Once your child has mastered the basic moves there is a variety of different things they can then try from the long rope skills and Double Dutch moves to creating and performing their own Jump Rope routine. Watch as they become more confident as they master a new Jump Rope move.
Please show your support by generously sponsoring your child. By doing so we can work towards ensuring this programme continues to benefit New Zealand children now and into the future.
