A successful 45 years and over $40M investment in heart health research
The Heart Foundation was founded back in 1968 by a dedicated and far-sighted group of cardiologists and business people wanting to foster education and research to improve the heart health of all New Zealanders.
Since then the Heart Foundation has invested over $40M in heart research. Over this time, there has been a drastic reduction in the number of death rates from heart disease.
However, cardiovascular disease is still the number one cause of death in NZ for both men and women and many of these deaths are premature and preventable.
Research relevant to New Zealand's needs is essential to support the many valuable initiatives undertaken by the Heart Foundation
