Pacific people face many challenges when moving to and living in New Zealand. One challenge is the move away from our traditional pacific foods and meals to foods that are higher in fat, sugar and salt. This change in diet means that we have higher rates of heart disease compared to other ethnic groups. We are living with obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure making us more as risk of having a heart attack and stroke. This course is a “hands on” way of taking nutrition information and using it in our every day lives. If you have a desire to help those around you, this course is a great staring point!
