Heart Foundation supports Pulse Netball team in Wellington

The Heart Foundation was proud to be the official charity game day partner for the Wellington Central Pulse Netball team at their final home game of the season on Sunday 18 July at TSB Arena.

The thrilling match went to the wire as the hosts were eventually defeated 54-56 by the Northern Mystics, who booked their place in the ANZ Premiership Grand Final.

A team of Heart Foundation nurses was at the arena offering "Pulse checks at the Pulse game" – an opportunity for spectators to learn more about their heart rates and have their pulses checked.

Additionally, two of the Pulse players wore the Heart Foundation logo on their dresses to further showcase their support of our cause.

In total there were around 3,500 spectators in attendance supporting the Central Pulse and cheering them on in the hope of a home win.

Our very own mascot, Hearty, also joined in the fun, making an appearance to the delight of children and fans in the crowd, while our nurses completed 90 pulse checks in one hour.

It wasn't enough to spur on the home team, unfortunately, who were trailing for most of the game but showed great composure to catch up and set up a nail-biting finish.

The result left the Pulse sitting in fifth place in the ANZ Premiership ladder. Their final game of the season was against Southern Steel on Saturday 24 July in Invercargill at the ILT Stadium, Southland.

A big-hearted thank you to the Central Pulse team for their support and commitment to raise awareness of New Zealand's single biggest killer.

Our involvement on the night provided an incredible opportunity for our team to be out in the community doing what they love. Our work is only possible with help from amazing people like the Central Pulse team so thank you from the bottom of our hearts for their support.
