Heart Foundation 5km Challenge

Join us for the 5km Challenge at this year's Auckland Marathon.

Newsreader Niva Retimanu is running the 5km at Auckland Marathon

Newsreader Niva Retimanu lost her mother 18 years ago, she had heart disease and was only in her early sixties. This really got Niva thinking about how she wanted to live her life and she knew she wanted to be fit and healthy.

Six years ago Niva began a journey to become a marathon runner. Having never run a marathon before she started with walking and used events like the Heart Foundation 5km Challenge at ASB Auckland Marathon to stay motivated to reach her goal.

You can support our cause by joining Niva at the start line on Sunday 29th October. $5 of every entry fee is donated to the Heart Foundation which will help us continue our lifesaving work in heart research and providing care, support and advice to people living with heart disease.

The course is a family-friendly event perfect for all ages and fitness levels: running, walking or pushing the pram. So get your mates together, lace up your sneakers and help us put a stop to New Zealand’s biggest killer - heart disease.
