ASB Auckland Marathon
Heart Racers raised thousands of dollars for the Heart Foundation at the Auckland Marathon 2017.
The Auckland Marathon may be over for this year, but we’re still feeling inspired by the event.
Our team of Heart Racers took part in several races on the day. There was lots to get involved with. From the Heart Foundation 5km Challenge to the half-marathon and full marathon.
We’re proud of the 80 Heart Racers who raised vital funds for the Heart Foundation while promoting heart health. Many had personal reasons for getting involved too. Like Celine and Catherine running for J-P, who died from heart disease aged 17.
Having the chance to meet the runners, hear their stories and see their achievements was an emotional experience.
Team Heart Racer
If you were at the event you may have spotted us on the day. Hearty cheered the runners on and had fun in the crowd.
The Heart Foundation marquee was a hive of activity. We hosted a healthy BBQ for our hungry competitors and much-needed massages took place.
Cool drinks were on hand, as our team recovered and shared stories.
Once fed and re-hydrated, our Heart Racers were happy to pose for photos, showing off their medals.
Vital funds for heart research
The ASB Auckland Marathon is a great opportunity for runners to challenge themselves and raise money for great causes. More than 700 runners helped raise more than $1 million for 14 different charities.
The Heart Racers and their supporters managed to raise an amazing $51,000 dollars for the Heart Foundation. We’re inspired by what they’ve achieved, and so grateful.
This money will go towards cutting-edge heart research and specialist training for cardiologists. Every donation can help save a life. Thank you to everyone who took part, and donated.
