Pacific community nutrition course

Want to learn what's in the food you eat? We will teach you how to understand nutrition information so you'll be able to plan cheap and tasty meals for you, your family, friends and wider community. Find out how you can register for the Pacific community nutrition course.

The Community Nutrition Course provides nutrition education to Pacific peoples and people who work with Pacific families and communities to improve their health and wellbeing. This course is 'hands on' and provides ways of taking nutrition information and using it in everyday life.

What will I learn?

We cover a range of topics that can be tailored to the needs of your group, including:

  • The different types of food our bodies need each day.
  • How to read food labels.
  • The role of food choices in Pacific health.
  • Simple and practical ways to enhance the health of Pacific people.
  • Tips for meal planning

In addition to valuable nutrition tips and skills you will learn, we can also include a cooking component at the end of the session, teaching you how to cook a cheap, quick and nutritious meal.

The course can be delivered either in person or online. A minimum of 15 to a maximum of 30 people are required to run a course. We are happy to discuss a training package to best suit your needs.

On completion of the course, you will receive a Pacific Heartbeat Certificate of Completion.

Please note - a venue which meets our requirements must be organised by the group requesting training.

The course fee is $15 per person, adjustments can be made for community groups with special circumstances.
