Baked Hasselback apples

Try this delicious dessert that makes the most of apples with only a handful of ingredients. It’s perfect for an autumn or winter evening

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C 
  2. Core and cut the apples in half 
  3. Cut through the apple halves in slices, stopping just before slicing all the way through. To make this easier place a wooden skewer through apple so the knife can’t go all the way through to the board
  4. Place apple halves face down in a roasting dish, sprinkle with cinnamon and cover with tin foil 
  5. Bake for 30 minutes then remove from oven and remove tin foil 
  6. Sprinkle with almonds and raisins, pushing some into the cuts of the apple 
  7. Return to oven for a further 10 minutes
  8. Remove from the oven and serve with yoghurt or custard

Tips:

  • Instead of almonds use chopped walnuts or replace half the nuts with seeds of your choice
  • Pears would also work well for this recipe if you prefer
