Heart health education for workplaces and community groups

We work with workplaces and community groups to promote heart-healthy lifestyles and to raise awareness of heart health and heart disease risk factors. Find out more about what we offer.

“Heart Foundation Heart Health Promoter taking employee blood pressure at New Zealand workplace wellness session with heart health resources on table”.

The Heart Foundation’s purpose is to stop all people in New Zealand dying prematurely from heart disease and enable people with heart disease to live full lives.

Almost 30% of deaths in New Zealand are from cardiovascular disease (conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels). However, 1 in 4 of these deaths could be avoided with effective strategies for prevention, diagnosis and timely treatment and care.

That’s why helping New Zealanders understand their personal risk is a key focus for our nationwide team of Heart Health Promoters. They deliver practical and engaging heart health education for workplaces and community groups, supporting people to:

  • understand their risk
  • adopt lifestyle habits that benefit heart health
  • feel more confident about heart health for themselves and their whānau.

Topics covered

  • What heart disease is
  • Understanding personal risk factors with an online heart health check
  • Managing risk factors (blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, lifestyle)
  • Heart attack warning signs

Created by our clinical experts, these sessions are simple and packed with lots of practical tips.

Health expo/wellness day – stall presence

We can host a stall at your workplace wellness event or community expo, offering heart health conversations, blood pressure checks and free resources.

Where we work

Heart Health Promoters are based across the country. If we can’t be there in person, we can provide online sessions instead.

We find smaller groups lead to more personalised conversations and better learning. If your group is 50 people or less, please register your interest below and we'll be in contact.

If your group is larger than 50 people, we’re still keen to hear from you – there may be other ways we can support you.

Our Heart Health Promoters

Heart Health Promoters are trained educators (non-clinical). They provide trusted information and can guide people to seek further care if needed. However, they are not a substitute for medical advice. All content is developed with our nursing team.
