Pan Pasifika Fono - Auckland 2020

The Heart Foundation is hosting a special two-day Pan Pasifika Fono with a common goal of working towards achieving equity for the health and wellbeing of Pacific people.

Mind the Gap. Pan Pasifika Fono - Auckland 2020.

The Fono will have a particular focus on food, nutrition and tobacco control, and is a unique opportunity to bring like-minded Pacific people together in a forum to network, be innovative, mobilise, energise, empower, inspire, and learn something new.

The fono is being held in partnership between the Heart Foundation, Tala Pasifika, and Te Hiringa Hauora - Health Promotion Agency.

Heart Foundation Chief Advisor Pacific, Dr Colin Tukuitonga, will provide an over-arching view of equity in health in Aotearoa and Dr Corina Grey will present a review of evidence about health equity for Pacific peoples in New Zealand.

The Fono is also an opportunity to hear from Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner, Saunoamaali'i Karanina Sumeo, who is the first Pacific and female Commissioner in this country.

Mafi Funaki-Tahifote will share what equity means for Pacific around food and nutrition and Edward Cowley will set the scene for discussions on what’s happening in the tobacco space in New Zealand: what are our expectations from the sector and why we need a shared and collective response.

The fono is an opportunity to be entertained, have fun and hear from professionals who are championing work in Pacific communities and workplaces.

When: Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November, 2020. 9:00am to 4:00pm
Where: Ellerslie Event Centre, 80 Ascot Avenue, Remuera, Auckland.
