Tonight, on World Heart Day, 29 September 2026, Auckland’s Sky Tower will pulse red to mimic a heartbeat, helping shine a light on the significant impact of heart disease in New Zealand.

Heart disease remains New Zealand’s single biggest killer, claiming the life of a loved one every 90 minutes

With 195,000 New Zealanders currently living with heart disease, the World Heart Day display aims to raise awareness of heart disease and encourage more New Zealanders to think about their heart health, the risks of heart disease and the steps they can take to look after their hearts.
