Kiwibank going cheque-free

Earlier this year Kiwibank announced that it is going ‘cheque-free’. This means that from 28 February 2020, the bank will not honour or accept cheques and it won’t be possible to order a new Kiwibank cheque book from 30 September this year.

We are aware that some of our wonderful supporters are Kiwibank customers and use cheques to make donations or to purchase Heart Foundation Lottery tickets.

All banks offer a number of safe ways to pay bills, make purchases or kindly give donations. To help its customers prepare for the change, Kiwibank is offering free digital banking courses at selected community centres and libraries around the country and its branch staff are also happy to help. Visit Kiwibank website for more information. At this stage, no other New Zealand bank has announced any changes to their cheque policy.

We are also happy to help anyone affected by the change with finding other ways to make a difference in the fight against heart disease. If you have any concerns or questions, please call us on 0800 830 100.
