Using spices is the topic for lesson five of our Food Technology: Year 7 unit plan.

In this lesson students will learn the attributes (taste and smell) of spices by preparing a base sauce. They will be able to practise knife skills and basic simmer and stir skills on the stove top. The recipe allows for variations which introduces the students to substituting ingredients.
